Jonathan Handley and Pierre Pistorius's paper in Polar Biology describes the first record of a penguin trying to steal food from another penguin underwater.

The attempted kleptoparastism event was captured by video cameras borne by the penguins. The description results from a larger study (Jonathan's PhD work) of the foraging ecology of gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua) at the Falkland Islands.

The story has been picked up by the media locally and internationally. New Scientist covered the story, as did local newspapers Die Burger and The Herald, and it got a writeup on the NMMU website.
